Lately i have known many people get there vans broken into and getting there vans completely cleared out.

What do you do, or have you done to make your van more secure?

How far can you go with van security without going over the top?

It's my biggest worry when i pull up to a job, I cant stop thinking that my day is coming up soon..

I have an astravan, I worry to after having the back window smashed but nothing taken. But really just don't keep any power tools in the van really. Just don't give scumbags a reason to break in

A mate of mine got done 2 days ago, he only nipped in tesco express, middle of the day, just cleared his van out, took his tester, the lot... feel so bad for him... But what do you do!!

He had back windows filled, bulkhead, nothing could be seen.. they must have been chancers...

For a start I would get a decent alarm. If you are getting a tranny connect then these are a must
Wire Loom Guards Security Products

as the wiring loom on the rear doors used to be a flaw.

I would also invest in theseVan Locked - Van security | van locks | van deadlocks | van security locks
as they are visible deterrent.

I summize that if your van looks like it can't be cracked very quickly then they will move on to something easier.

I always park my van with the side loading door to the kerb. There was a gang who drove around and used to pull up to a side loading door, jemmy it open and empty your van's contents into theirs and drive off.

They tried to do mine in broad daylight on a Friday afternoon!!

You could always get one of those stickers that say "No tools kept in vehicle". If people see this surely they won't break in

i had a combo with the dead locks build in to the body work. still only took 22seconds to gain entry. my new vito i have had antispike plates fitted x5 @ ÂŁ75 3 armour shells(as fitted by british gas vans look on back door its a black or orange lump) fitted at ÂŁ150 each and 3 remote control dead locks 3 @ ÂŁ175 each. and after having all that fitted it still might only take a min to get in. can only try and slow them down they are gonna get in some how! search on the internet for you make of van and security problems. and see what people have had done and what people offer. i was thinking of getting a clinical waste sign of private ambulance on the van that might help. spending ÂŁ500 on security is well worth it the damage they do and the tools you loose and time of work for repair and replacment of tools is in the 1000s

I've got an ex BG transit connect. It came with a seamless lock on the sliding door, you can only access the padlock when the passenger door is open.

I think a locked van volt is one of the best ways to keep your kit safe (bolted to the van) but it takes up a lot of space
I have been wiped out twice in the last 18 months :-( . but at the end of the day if the scum want it they will find a way to have it.

Drive a crap van with no stickers. When customers declare that your van is very basic let them know about the amount of break ins and what you are doing to put them off.
If your work is pucka you will not have a problem with a scruffy van.

bolt a van vault in the back and make sure you keep toos and meters in it takes about 2 min to put gear in and when scumbags go past and see it they tend not to bother breacking in for a few drums of half used cable drums
