As title, what do you need in Scotland to supply certificates if you are thinking of becoming self employed?

Would need to be the blood of a Highland Maiden, so good thing he's in Scotland.

Depends on the type of work

Electrical Installation Cert, schedule of Inspections, Schedule of test results.

Minor Works certificate.

Electrical Installation Condition Report, Schedule of inspections, schedule of test results.

Part 6 in the BGB or BYB will tell you in more detail.

The specifics for Building regs in Scotland, i don't know, but BS7671 applies to all parts of the UK.

Technically I don't think you need any certificates, all you need is to prove competence.

How do you prove competence?

If you're not cards in, I have heard that professional indemnity insurance (as well as public liability) is very strongly advised.

So all you need to do is be a member of Select and then you can begin signing off your own jobs? so you dont have to worry about getting a third party to do the testing side.
