What sort of design?

2391-20 (I think it's 20) would be a good start. For more in-depth design you'd be looking at an HNC/D or even a degree.

Personally I think a HNC/D would be the best route. I'm not entirely sure that 2391-20 covers but AFAIK it doesn't cover things like business management, which the higher nationals do. The HNC/D will give you more knowledge which might be neccessary, especially in commercial/industrial design.

Just my 2 pennysworth. I'm not in design or anything, however I have looked at the various options in a fair bit of detail and aside from spending 3 years at Uni, the HNC/D is the best option.

Have you done the 2330 2&3,17th and 2391?
From what I have been told if you are a qualified Electrician and know what you are doing you can design your own and be self employed
