I'm doing this course in a couple of months.

What do I need to know for it?

I'm going to buy the Guidance Notes 3 soon.

What do I need to know about 3 phase? I only really know the theory of how it works at the moment!

Thanks.

Try reading this thread http://www.electriciansforums.net/electrical-courses-electrical-nvqs/36012-june-2011-2391-exam.html and this one http://www.electriciansforums.net/electrical-courses-electrical-nvqs/36012-june-2011-2391-exam.html may give you some information and the Exam Success book is quite good on telling you how to answer the questions http://www.amazon.co.uk/City-Guilds...8996/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1312909458&sr=8-1.

You need to know most of GN3 in memory! Use the correct terminology (as in GN3) for everything.
If you have 2382 and 2392 then you should be OK so long as you have experience.

Good luck.

As Richard has said learn GN3 inside out, it cant be emphasised enough about how much knowledge of this book is needed as it is so important. If you can recite it you have learned enough for the written exam. Dont dwell on 3 phase too much, it only involves doing the same tests as you would on single phase just repeated 3 times cos you have 3 phases instead of 1. You will be walked through it during your course both in theory and practical experience.

Good luck,

Cheers.............Howard
