Discuss What do ya reckon?? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

2 things ....

I thought the idea a brilliant concept (as long as I don't have to wire it!) :)

Digression ... if abroad have 2 pin plugs, why do we need 3? Is it so we know which way is up?

Continental plugs have an earth connection too. It's just a tab on the case unlike the big sticky out bit that we have.

And yes the flat plug looks pretty good, all I'd be concerned about is contact wear and area. When the contact area was reduced by those insulators on the plug legs the plugs and sockets started to burn out more easily. I suppose it was a case of H&S working with the manufacturers (or was it our trade) to cause earlier failure needing replacement more often.
