Was in't pub last night when the phone went off in my pocket, so like a berk i answered it. Fairly new"ish" customer. I did a load of work a while back after a fire in a utility room. Anyway he told me that the rcbo for the downstairs lights wont stay on. OK i cant come now, its 10pm and ive had several, i will come in the morning, and have you had anything done like changing lights etc, "NO" .So off i went, got there and found a wall has been pulled down kitchen to utility, 2 lights removed, switches moved about and 2 cables poking out of the freshly plastered kitchen ceiling, sockets all been moved about, large portions of insulating tape on all sorts of live cables. Asked him who did the work, it was a mate of the plasterer, and he asked me if i could complete it all and give him a certificate. Once i had finished choking on my brew with laughter i told him, no. I also recommended that he got the John Wayne Electrical Company back to sort out his lighting problem which is a live to earth short circuit. Oh and that is ÂŁ40 please. After a bit of discussion i got my ÂŁ40, he said thats a bit dear for 10 minutes, i said if you had the work done properly in the first place it wouldn't have cost anything. We then went on to discuss rectifying the lighting problem if John wayne cant. No problem I will charge you ÂŁ30 per hour per man, and there will be 2 of us, your ceiling will to have to come down and then it will want making good, and i neither rip ceilings down or put them back up again. Anyway you have my number if you need me, but be quick i pack up in 3 weeks, and will pass it over to Phil and Paul, and they charge more than me.....he..he.

Cheers..............Howard
