i've been sounded out to do 'local' emergency response for a large concern.

i've said that i'd charge £45 plus vat for the 1st hour, £40 per hour thereafter, to include travelling to and from the job.

after normal hours, it's be x1.5 for the first 4 hours, then double time for the remainder.

the above rates are what i charge already.

they've said that the payment would be £75 plus vat per call out. it may be resetting an rcd, it may be rigging up a temp supply for freezer etc, if the fault cannot be repaired simply.

if that's the case, the bigger job gets passed back to their organisation for completion by their teams, so i don't get a look in other than the call outs.

i don't think it'll be worth it?

(i think i've just answered the question by myself by just reading it back!!!)

If you do out of hours emergency response anyway, you've not got a lot to loose/ risk.

Is it direct for the concern or a general breakdown cover provider.

it'd be through a cover provider. it's the rate of £75 that puts me off? if the job is out of normal hours and anything other that a simple reset of an mcb or rcd, on the doorstep, ie less than 15 mins travelling there and same back, i'd be out of pocket!
