What is the best isolator to use

Hi all,
A customer is having a bathroom put into the room where the meter, cutout and consumer unit currently sits. She has already arranged for the dno to put the meter outside. It is my responsiblity to provide the tails from the meter to the new location of the board, some 6 meters away. I would like to fit an isolator just above the meter. What is the best isolator to put in this location. which one would the dno put in if it was requested? (a link to a product would be excellent)

Hi.

If the tails are over 3m in length from the meter then you will need to fit a switchfuse to provide the overload protection, such as the one below......

Have a look at the basics switchfuse range from Denmans. As Lenny says, but this will be more cost effective for you. The one Lenny shows is quite pricey but a good option if cost is not an issue.

Couldn't find a pic of the KMF......., the DNO dont usually dont like anything bigger than one of those in their cabinets.

I can recommend the one Jim put up - the brand I use is 'Click' but you see them with many generic names on but they all look mysteriously the same.....

Anyway, I try and put an isolator in on a board change as a matter of course, and always use these types. They are robust but compact (the old Wylex type look nice but take up a hell of a lot of space). Also well priced. Just remember that when the cover's off, the 'on' and 'off' label is facing the wrong direction. No, really.....
