Hi All

sorry i know its been covered to a degree (as far as i have read)

can someone please tell me what the process is from start to finsh of the whole part p thing.

i cant see why a fully qualified elec has to do it but for some reason we do.

what is the couses needed and how much do they cost?

im wanting to know as im really thinking of going out on my own but just want to understand what ill have to come up against.

im going to do my 2391 soon which i know is a must to go alone. or far as im aware.

also i understand your work has to be checked to register with nic eic, nappit (who is best and why) etc... but how can you do it if your not allowed to do the work in the first place?

sorry for all the questions

and thanks for any help

Hi mate, what quals have you got? you only need to be with approved body for domestic, commercial /industrial is still ok to do without notification, however if you want to do domestic now you have to notify building control for works that need notifying, minor works are ok to do.

just do your two jobs, one notifiable, one minor works and apply for registration, i'm with niceic just cos i think they're better known by public than the others, they'll send an assessor out and as long as you pass you can go on and do work and sign it off;)

You can register some works through the local authority until you are registered, they will sign the works off but no reason why you cant present it to them. Do a certificate to"sign" the job off.
You really need to have 2391 but they say as long as you are competant that is good enough

I am with Elecsa and they only require 1 job
