Hi all,

This is my first post as a new member so thanks for having me. Basically I will try and keep it simple. I am thinking of returning to the trade after a long lay off and wanted to get the low down on the most appropriate qualifications for a self employed domestic electrician.

I did the old C&G 236 part 1 and AM1 back in 88/89 but then left to do somthing else shortly after i started the part 2.

I am in a privaleged position in that i dont need to earn a decent salery for the next 6 to 12 months and can get some good work experience with an NICEIC friend of mine.

I am thinking of going to do a full time cpurse which will include 2391 and a few other bits but the training centres want to charge a fair bit.

So, what do you guys reckon,

Ps, i have kept my hand in to some degree and have a lot of really solid engineering and building skills so not a complete novice.

I really welcolme your advice.

are you going for the 2382 as well as 2391? with those under your belt, it's a good start. check out your local colleges as opposed to the expensive alternatives fvor info on courses.

Thanks for that guys,

There is so much info online its difficult to see the wood for the trees.

I will get down my local college and check out some of the organisations Lenny mentioned.
