Hi,

I will be looking to invest in a new set of test kit soon, any advice on your test kit that you guy's use? Good/Bad, what works + what don't etc?

What I am looking for is :

1, All in one 17th Edition tester (all tests done with 1 bit of kit).
2, Smart looking (small, not to big and bulky).
3, Test leads with a remote test button.
4, A meter that will store test readings that you can link up to a laptop/pc and sync/transfer readings onto appropiate test documents with software later in day etc.
5, Minimum amount of lead changing for different tests.
6, Clear/concise reading display.
7, RCD Ramp test functionality.

Sounds a lot but I'm not to fussy ;), just want to buy the right piece of kit once only, any advice on the above would be great and also price's/websites on where to get the kit from?

I am currently looking at the Megger MFT1553 & the Kewtech 8-In-1 (KT65), any guys using these already? What are they like?

Also req'd the plug in adaptors for the different light fittings for carrying out ELI tests etc, any good? best places to buy from?

Thanks guys, LEO.

Go for the 1553 good solid piece of kit and if you pat test or plan to pat test the same software is used for the pat 4 so two pieces of kit only one software program needed.

Hope that helps

Chris

I have the MFT1552 which is the MFT1553 minus the bluetooth function and find it an excellent meter - much better than the previous one I had, a Fluke 1653 and a Metrel Instaltest 61557 I had on hire whilst the Fluke was being repaired!

I have these Socket & See light fitting adaptors which come with all the major cap type and sizes.

i was told recently that robin ARE kewtech. apparently fluke brought robin out and basically ended the brand name. a few of the guys from ROBIN then went and started up a new company and called it kewtech.have been told all this by a rep of kewtech.so if kewtech are robin then i'd go for the kewtech multi meter.

Kewtech KT64 is quality stuff and im guessing KT65 going to be better. By far best tester i have used! Also easy to use and light in weight!

Has to be megger had mft 1552 for 2 years great.Mate of mine has a fluke always complaining about their leads and is replacing them every year.

Indeed you are correct. :)

Metrel Mi3002 for me does all that you have asked it to do. stores 400 tests in the memory, then go home and download to pc. also has a help button, lol so if you havnt done a particular test in a while it shows you a diagram of what to do.

Personally it would annoy me having to use adaptors all the time. Can't you buy a proper UK one?
