hello all,

right i'v been scouring the net lookin for contact details for part p, i'm a qualified electrician 2330, bin completing minor, installation and periodics certs for the firm i worked for last, they was niceic regestered. i'm going alone now and need a couple of jobs behind me before i can get nickied, what is the procedure untill then? any advice welcome, thanx.

If you are not a member of a competent person scheme all notifiable work should go via building control and they will want paying ie about £120 plus vat for a consumer unit change.

Most people do the notifiable job in their own home. The two jobs have to be at different addresses and no more than 30mins drive apart.

Don’t blame me if this is wrong….
I believe Elecsa only want to see 1 job to join their scheme and I don’t think it has to be anything to major (not a c/u change etc)

Have a look at their website
http://elecsa.co.uk/cmsContent.aspx?ID=20110

They are becoming more recognised, I see a lot of sparks registered with Elecsa and now even customers have heard of them & asked why I wasn’t a member.

thank you for ur coments, i'm goin to go niceic as i belive it's away of customers with half a clue short listing (same with 17th edition), i understand i have to have a large job and small job to be inspected. with the building control is that £120+ payable everytime i do notifiable work, seems a little costly for someone to tell me my own trade, anycontact details for these would be much appreciated.
