what to do with the lighting cables

V

voltage

Hi guys

Had my bathroom totally refurbed tiled floor and walls but where i have the sink i had planned to have a light there so i had the hole cut out of tile and ive got 2 twin + earth lighting cables poking through they are in a connector block.

So ive now decided i want a mirror their instead so what is the best thing to do with the cables ? poke the cables back into the wall behind bearing in mind theres insulation and also copper piping for the plumbing there to ?

Any suggestions welcome many thanks volt.

Can you pull back up into the loft and put them in a JB? Or cut a single box in high up and joint them in there? If you have cables in the wall you need to have some sort of indication that they are there, wiring zones. If the tiles go right up to the ceiling could you cut a box into the wall from the other side?

Can't think of any more.........

thanks for replies guys a few things to mention the flat is on middle floor and has no loft so all cables are run in the walls etc.

I did think about a mirror with a light in it but the sink is right next to the bath not the required 600 mill clearance needed for zones.
If you stood up in bath at the top end you could easily touch the mirror but the bathroom is all upto 17th edition as i had a new consumer unit in 2008/9 and is RCD protected.

so as long as the mirror is ip44 rated with the pull cord this would be ok even if its within bathroom.jpg

from your diagram, it looks to be in zone 2. i.e not directly above bath, so IMO IP44 with pull cord is acceptable.

yeah thats correct tel its to the left of the bath and the enrty hole for cables is more than 600mil above the sink so if that unit is mounted it will be in zone 2.
