ok, got a call today, guy has had his small farmhouse renovated, rewire etc. the sparky firm has gone pop in current climate so needs a test so he can get building insurance. I explained that i would need to look at property to make evaluation.

so, i dont want to turn down work, but im aware that any tests carried out would have implications, ie, it would be a visual and test basis only according to results etc.

so what should i do?????

any guidance would be appreciated as this is a first for me, ie i know that i cannot account for zoneing of cables etc, but is this not the same when doing a basic CU change???

cheers durham, rocker, i usually dont get involved with these as they can bite u in the ---, however in this current climate eh!

I would be very wary, the company going bump just at the time of certyfying their work, gud timing not-personally i would test the installation but dig deeper on the visual side of things, price accordingly for this and the rest is history.I would definatly make a note on the cert that you didnt carry out the installation work, nor did you inspect it at 1st fix stage either, basically to cover yourself.Hope this helps bud.....

Exactly as duram has said , only way round it realy , unless you are carrying out any other works for him and install another circuit or carry out works that require an EIC then what i would do is a complete test of the installation and notify the works ,then youve covered all aspectes but the easiest is a PIR , the other thing is it could be works that have been carried out by an unregestered spark or even not a spark and the need a cert for it not saying it is but could be a possability , seen it before

after milwall kens other post of being on here too much, i have to say that i really appreciate everybodys input when i pose a question!!!!!!!!..........like i said, thanks again!
