hi all i have been doing a lot of periodics recently for the housing assocoation and i was amazed at the lack of electrical neglect that i found for instance missing main earth bonds,db covers missing, high ri1 r2 values, high impedance values, ins resistace values of 34 meg, missing covers on a cooker outlet switch..... there was or should i say a question that bothers me a smoke or a co alarm being tied in with another circuit ... should i make positive remarks for the smoke to be be on an individual cct or let that one be cos itis an exsisting installation also what Ka readiding woud you give a mem memera rewirable fuse reading on the ka section as the regs state diffrent values for each fuse rating... anyways as to my first point what have you failed a domestic installation for and if poss please provide a picture of said fault or faults ... what i am really asking is there a set amount of faults that would in effect say yes this would warrent a fail or is the end game just pass or fail depending om the inspector. i feel there is not enough clarification on this also when testing and you find and earth bond to water and not to gas does that mean you place an x in the said colum for inspection results....... i do feel that inspection schedule has not been clarified for such or am i talking crap... on another note does anybody know why when testin a 1361 cable head fuse the metrel mi3125 unit lite, only allows you to test to a 30amp size fuse within the pre programed limts seems daft to me but thoghts please ..... i know the metrel lite unit is only designed for 17th edition values but 30amp/ 1361 please......

ANY Code 1s or 2s make an "Unsatisfactory " result Code 1s should be isolated or repaired whilst on site code 2s require repair ASAP depends on client
DONT allow your self to get forced into the "PASS" thing as its for a Housing --- put it straight
BTW IMO Id recomend a replacement CU as mr/mrs tennant could replace fuse wire with anysize they have lying around
Hope things are going well with you btw

Can be fed from an existing lighting circuit but must have an independant means of isolationshould i make positive remarks for the smoke to be be on an individual cct or let that one be cos itis an exsisting installation also what Ka readiding woud you give a mem memera rewirable fuse reading on the ka section as the regs state diffrent values for each fuse rating... anyways as to my first point what have you failed a domestic installation for and if poss please provide a picture of said fault or faults ... what i am really asking is there a set amount of faults that would in effect say yes this would warrent a fail or is the end game just pass or fail depending om the inspector. i feel there is not enough clarification on this also when testing and you find and earth bond to water and not to gas does that mean you place an x in the said colum for inspection results......yes. i do feel that inspection schedule has not been clarified for such or am i talking crap... on another note does anybody know why when testin a 1361 cable head fuse the metrel mi3125 unit lite, only allows you to test to a 30amp size fuse within the pre programed limts seems daft to me but thoghts please ..... i know the metrel lite unit is only designed for 17th edition values but 30amp/ 1361 please......

Any code 1 or 2 defects will mean an unsatisfactory verdict.....some code1 defects such as exposed live parts will need an electrical danger notice issued on the day of the test.
If you follow the guidelines on coding in the ESC best practice guide no 4 you wont go far wrong.

29.2e Means should be provided for double pole isolation of the mains supply to all parts of the system; the isolation facilities should be suitably sited, in the vicinity of the equipment served, for use by maintenance technicians without the need for access to remote parts of the building. It should be possible to lock the facilities in both the normal and isolate positions to prevent unauthorized use.

To me that means a double pole key switch or the like, but how many guys here have seen a switched FCU ................what would you code that if any

Where would you site this, at the panel or close to the smokes? How many houses want something like a key switch in the hall or landing
