just fitted some under cupboard LEDs at home, look superb, even light distribution, good white light etc. However, when I've retrofitted gu 10 240s with warm white LEDs the colours hardly match.
I just hope the lamp life promised lives uo to the claims of the manufacturers with them.

By the time I explain the benefits to customers, they nearly always ask for me to install them. i have just done a retrofit in a kitchen, 11 GU10s, 8 decorative little collingwood led spots, 5 mr 11 retrofits and si lite led strip along the top of the units. The customer was really happy with the work, now she wants another 20 m of led strip along the bottom of her units, all controlled by rako, and it has brought in more work from her neighbours. A word of warning though, I installed 5W KSR GU10s and they were awful. The cool white light output was more of a blue, so I changed them for 7 w kusonics, which the customer was a lot more pleased with

Just done a cost comparison between 50 watt halogen and 4 watt LED. Based on 13.5p per kWh, weekday 4 hours, weekend 8 hours, for 48 weeks [occupants have a few holidays!] = 1728 hours per year.
50 watt = ÂŁ11.66 per year
4 watt = 69p per year
[11 watt CFL would consume = ÂŁ1.90's worth]

If electricity prices did not rise for 10 years the saving would be:
ÂŁ97.63 for 11 watt CFL
ÂŁ109.73 for 4 watt LED

Lamp life:
50 watt halogen = 1.16 years
11 watt CFL = 5.78 years
4 watt LED = 17.33 years

Kosnic give 5 year guarantee on their LED lamps. No risk for customer to get their money back on electricity savings!

If anyone isn't sure about LEDs due to cost, the above calculation makes the case as the lamp is paid for in year 1's saving [based on ÂŁ10.00 per lamp including VAT] And the ÂŁ10.00 per year saving is made each year. I believe electricity prices have risen in real terms by 18% in the last ten years. If this is the case, add 20% to savings detailed above!

I would like to work on this further. Please contact me if anyone has cost comparison data for SELV lighting against 230v.

Halers have a nice comparison thinggy on their website even factors in the cost of getting someone to replace lamps its more towards the commercial user but the parameters are variable so anyone could use it
IMO 4w leds are pants prefer above 7 w the strip lighting underunit and worktop looks great
Till LED prices come down a good bit the market will be flooded with cheap crud and bad reputations of reliability issues hence we use either halers for full fits or phillips, osram n Sylvania for retrofit
