Had to change a few DP sockets in a school from white to black (don’t ask why!), went to give a final twist on the screw, and crack! The socket has split from the screw hole to the switch? Tried another one, not as tight this time, and....crack! You could almost move the third one as by this time I was running out of sockets! And then I noticed that the sockets were made in Malaysia?

A few days later was connected up some heaters, and again was using MK (supplied not be me). The job had already been tested, so all I had to do was flex the heaters to the spurs. Went to turn on....and nothing? Checked the supply and fuse in the spur, everything was fine, so I couldn’t understand why I had power going into the spur, but nothing coming out? Decided to change the spurs to a different make, and on came the heaters!

MK used to be the best you could get?

We use only MK (all council spec) and the graphite sockets crack very easy in comparison to white.

I noticed they're now made in Malaysia too but dont think that has affected quality - dont seem to be getting cheaper either! Just more profit for MK i guess!

Also had one faulty fused spur, was Metal Clad though, but had no continuity between the two neutral terminals.
