i'm not currently working in the electrical industry, i'm working 4 days a week for a builder and going to college the other day. this summer i anticipate i'll pass my 2330 L3, and the i will have the following quals:

2330 L2 & L3
2391 Inspect and test
2382 17th edition
2377 PAT
L2 domestic installers cert

and then i had planned to get a job as an electricians mate, and then after a while (hopefully) my new employer would put me through NVQ and AM2 so i would be fully qualified.
but will the NVQ still be around by then? if not what will i have to do?

Yes of course it will, but I believe that you will have to work for a couple of years as an Electrician before the JIB will recognise you as an approved Electrician. Even with the 2391. If you can get an employer to take you on and put you though the NVQ 3 you will still have to complete the AM2 as part of the new NVQ 3 programme. Unless you sign up for the NVQ before march I believe. There was a posting on this forum about this very subject earlier this week fella. So just search though the past postings. You will receive a lot more information on the subject than I can tell you mate; and from people who have far more knowledge on the subject matter than me mate.

theres no chance i'll be able to start the NVQ untill at least july at the earliest. at the moment i can't find a job as an electricians mate where i can only work 4 days, they all want me to work 5 days a week minimum which means i would have to drop out of college.
so i'm doing building work 4 days a week to pay the bills untill i've sorted the 2330 and got it out of the way.

Keep up the good work fella, at least you're going down the proper route and not doing a 5 day course!!! Good luck mate, and all the best for the future. Just avoid taking any advice off of DES 56 on this forum as he's an ex crabbie, and skinny git to boot!!! You won't go wrong on this forum mate, I wish that I'd know of it when I was at school.

It’s sad that you had to say no more money to them for them to pull their fingers out.
