Hi everyone! Currently on day two of my AM2... Feeling quite confident that it's all going well. Would like to say a quick thankyou to everyone who has posted help/tips on these forums! Has been a great help guys!!!! Basically the point of this message is to find out what my next step is. I got kickd out of college for falling behind on my NVQ. Someone from the college told me that if I took the AM2, even though I didn't have my NVQ, I would still be seen as a qualified electrician. Was wondering if anybody knew if this was correct or if I'm just wasting my time?

Many Thanks

Pedro

The JIB is a strange organisation. From what I can make out you will need the NVQ3 eventually to get an electrician grading, but if you have the AM2, are registered on the NVQ3 and get a letter from your employer you may be able to get a 'provisional' electrician grading, but that is only intended to be temporary while you finish the NVQ.

You can't get a JIB grading as an electrician without a full level 3 technical certificate and an NVQ 3, the AM2 will help but you still need to do the dreaded logbook I'm afraid.
