Not sure if this has been posted or 'stickied' before, (apologies if it has), had a look around and couldn't find anything so here is a list of the works notifiable under Pert P of the Building Regulations.

like the info, thanks, is fittings (accesories) if like for like notifiable...... lights socket
like for like fittings is not notifiable, as no alteration to circiut parameters. but a CU change /upgrade is not like for like so is notifiable. read Lenny's attachment for a full list.

A friend has a detached garage with a light circuit already in there for the garage light ;-)

They don't want an outside switch but they do want some new outside lights attached to the outside of the garage.

If the wiring passes directly into the lights through the wall is this non-notifiable?

From the notes under Part P it says:
Notification is not required if wiring to such outdoor equipment; (i) isnot a new circuit, and (ii) passes directly through an outside wall intothe equipment, and (iii) is not an extension to a special location orkitchen circuit.

Hi Grant Naylor, the answer to your ? about garage light circuit is in the quote you have posted, ( (iii) is not an extension to a special location orkitchen circuit. ) I would think that new outside lights may be an extension to special location, they may not be longer r1+r2 to existing.
