When I was starting out some 30 years ago It was pretty well drummed into me that the best to worst accessories to use were

first - MK
then - Crabtree
then nothing much to choose between the rest except for
last - any CEF own brand!

whats your rating now?

another 2 questions
1 - Crabtree still a step above most?
2 - anyone tried the new Hager range of sockets/switches. Local independent has them in and must say the look terrifiic with a decent build quality as well.

cheers

Z

Crabtree First!

Gone off MK in the last 5(or so) years.... not what they were!!

I've used the new Hager a few times... I was impressed, as said they seemed of good build quality.

The old denmans designa range was ok (mid range) made by GET.

We really just use MK. Its a quality product and very rarely have issues with stripping screws etc. The only downside to the MK range are their 1G and 2G light switches, terrible for connections especially if you're looping in at the switch. I've also used quite a few of the GET range(flatplate, grid etc) and they're a good cheaper alternative to MK.

We had the MK rep here the other day and I asked him 'why when you are the supposed 'leading' brand in the UK have your light switches been **** since you went for the logic look'? His reply was that they know they're crap and they are going to be changing them very soon! :)

I have tried quite a few recently and have to say click has got my vote, all well thought out and interchangeable switch modules to make any combination you like, looks and build quality good aswell

Forbes and lomax of course lol. I use whatever's to hand or matching too. Click are a good solid brand, MK have gone downhill but the grids are still the best also there cast decorative plates even if they are over priced. crabtree I like, nice and chunky and well put together. Hamitons have too smaller terminals for my liking.

Click mode just now mk is not what it was.I agree their lightswitches are really badly designedI used to use Ashley which I quite liked but none of my local boys stock it anymore

Crabtree sockets have shocking screw terminals. Agree regards the MK switches, but like their sockets. MK FCUs are probably the easiest to wire as all terminals are lined up an accessible from the top.

Won't go near Marbo or CED rubbish
