Yes Maximum Demand again lol

I just tried to make the title a little more curious to get people to look ;)

Just playing with some maximum demand figures, started with 226A and got it down to 104.65A

Just wondering what id the highest figure you have recorded for a 100A fuse?

Is it actually possible to record a figure higher than the rating of the fuse ? I'm interested to know the answer to this as I don't recall it ever being mentioned and I haven't read it anywhere. If someone knows that it has been documented in one of our bibles please could you point me in the direction so that I can go and have a read.

:thumbsup

100Amps.... i dont mess about with that calc... if fuse is 60 then thats max... etc..!! got better things to do than count tellies and kettles then work out what watts the lights are..!!

I like your style lol

Could this not be deemed as a little "Rough" though?;)

Would there be an installation that you would refuse to upgrade if you believed the maximum demand would actually be too high?

I wonder if any fuses are likely to go pop over the Christmas and New Year period?

To save all the arguments, turn everything on, plug everything you can find into all the sockets, and go and shove a clampmeter round the live tail and see what you measure. That is the definitive maximum demand i suppose.

Cheers...........Howard

I'll be honest, my calculations would probably be questioned by so many. I guess this is only something you will learn throughout your working life and probably still never get it bang on?

Your Right!! It takes a good many years, to lets say, become proficient enough to be confident of your assessments, ...and some never do!!! Many just stick to the adding up protective device ratings and multiplying the sum by 0.4, which tends to lean on the safe side and usually more than adequate in most circumstances for a domestic installation....

I posted a diversity thread on here a couple of weeks ago, complete with workings out to OSG diversity calcs etc - came to something like 210 Amps AFTER (on a domestic), if I remember correctly.

But, my gut instinct tells me that the place will be fine on the 80A 1361 incomer, so once it's all up and running I'll leave a power monitor running for a couple of weeks to prove it.

I went to look at a house regarding a board change.
he had so many circuits I have never seen as many in a 3 bedroom semi.

3X 8 way boards
1x 2 way board for swimming pool (big fish pond if you ask me) in the garden not covered??
more spotlights than britains got tallent.
massive cooker
9.5kw shower
5 ring mains??
fruit machines all over the gaff
pool tables lighting
casino tables everywhere with lights all over
12 lighting circuits
radials all over the board with spurs tapped off all over the gaff
cctv alarms the lot
thats before the outside lights bar fridges cocktail shaker machines, pumps for the pool. driveway lights festoon lighting all over the place. amp racks massive nightclub type speakers. I think the dno had enough of turning up to replace the main.
tell you what I would like to have seen a thermal image of that place from the local mets helicopter. and yes he was a bachelor more money than sense. lets just say the neighbours dont send him Christmas cards any more

max demand?? he needed 3 phase in there and some sound proofing for the neighbours
