One site I was on a few years ago the security guard used to bring in a guitar to keep himself occupied during night shift. If we were working when he bowled up I'd often grab it and start playing but before I knew it an hour or 2 had passed and the wife was on the phone asking what time I was working till

Lol, I know what that's like. There's a guy I do work for, property maintenance, and he plays the guitar. If I get a call to see him about a job, the Mrs just rolls her eyes & says your dinner will be in the oven!

Got my dad's old 30-odd year old Ibanez Acoustic (it's a bit bashed now, but the sound gets better with age)
Also bought myself some random copy of a Fender Tele - made to look all bashed up. I like the sound of the Tele, but the neck on this thing is too flexible for my liking. Used to play on an Epiphone Les Paul Standard.

Nothing special really.

However, for my Wedding/Birthday/Christmas present, my wife is getting a friend from our church to hand make me an acoustic - this one will be all mine and new and I can select what ever woods I want and maybe the shape I want, the thickness of the neck and then I can add whatever Pick-up I want.

He is starting up a guitar making business, having made one in a place in Lewes, East Sussex and deciding he wanted to do some more. The one he made sounds great.

Then I shall have a nice guitar :)

I love my wife.

Man, that's a good Mrs. you got there. Made a few guitars in my time, electric only. Would love to have the time to work on an acoustic!

Loving the Zak Wilde collection.my bro has one wi the emg 81s retrofitted instead of the hz pickups .great rock guitar.i the lad likes it heavy alright. He is giving it some in a one finger drop A fashion at the moment.headphones for Xmas I think.he seems set on getting a bugera head for some reason .he would be better off with a orange tiny terror or something like that if it's valve tone he's after.no?

I've only ever played classical. I have a Yamaha and an Epiphone guitar. Both nylon strung and neither are anything to write home about. I've had the Yamaha since I was 13 years old. I bought the Epiphone a few years ago for the sole purpose of keeping the kids away from the Yamaha. Paid next to nothing for it but for some strange reason it's got great tone so I play it quite often.

i play drums i have a roland electric drum kit to save the neighbours ears so never been interested in guitars however my mate invested in a rickenbacker and what a piece kit it was volley and the sound was amazing :)

Cheers for that. Got them all fitted with 81/85's. They make some difference. A smaller valve head does sound a better way to go. Orange tiny is a great wee valve!

Sunburst strat, a gift from er indoors a couple of years ago.

Gutted not to have enough time to play it enough anymore.:evil2:

Just got to make the time...even if it's the middle of the night. Between working on my cars, van, paint balling & racing of my dogs, I do struggle to find the time. As well as running an all trades company!

Nothing wrong with a nice nylon strung acoustic. I have some cheaper model acoustics that I just can't bare to get rig of. Got a great wee Stagg 6 string & a Ozark 12 String & I love them to bits. There setup just perfect!

I had a beautiful pearl kit years ago when I turned my old loft into a recording studio. Miss playing drums. Doubt the Mrs. would let me get a kit these days unless it were electro. Only drumming I get to do is in the practice pads when I get the chance.
