What's your Most Painful Task day to day as an Electrician

Not the usual question probably posted in this sub-forum but I believe this could be beneficial for some of you as well as myself, maybe.

Anyways, I’m 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] year software engineer at Uni and next year I’ll be doing my third and final year project. For my final year project we have to find a given problem in any area and solve it using software.

Now as some of my friends are electricians by trade I thought it would be a lot easier to get feedback about potentially solvable problem, but as well as them I’d like to get feedback from other electricians.

My hats off to all of you in this industry as it seems way harder than anything I’ll ever have to put up with as a software engineer.

Would really like any input regarding the questions below and I'll be sure to follow up and keep everyone involved as a part of whatever may or may not result from this conversation. So here goes nothing (flame retardant suit on):

Can you walk me through a typical day for you?
What’s the most painful task you have day-to-day?
What takes up most of your time?
What are you currently doing that frustrates you?
What tasks are you doing that you believe can be made easier or less tedious?

Btw - I’ve tried contacting companies and not surprisingly I got little response.

Most painful task today is a choice of two, I knelt on a screw which wasn't the most fun I've ever had and later I thought it would be fun to bang my knee on a ladder, it was no fun at all.

Most painful? In literal terms its a tough call between being doubled over in a hot sweaty cramped loft wiring up a JB or losing my knuckles on the sharp edges of the cable chase i am knocking out

Get an apprentice or a mates son to do that ffs !

Most painful definately when you spin one of these **** drums of cable on your hand and find there is a piece of the **** they call metal they use on the drums sticking out and cuts every single one of your fingers. That was a fun day at work and night at the hospital.

I think of loads of things on a daily basis that could be done better, but I can't think of a single one that's likely to have a software level solution, sorry!

Had a painful one today, myself. I sat down on the floor to wire in a socket and as usual sit on one leg folded under me. Sadly my right -------- got in the way and got sat on as well. Ouch!
