Hi,

We are really interested to hear how you, as an installer, will be adapting which products you buy/specify. Will you be looking for cheaper modules from lesser-known manufacturers (low-end), sticking with mid-range manufacturers/modules, or will you be advocating quality over quantity (and continuing with Sanyo and other high-efficiency modules)?

As a reputable distributor we want to ensure we are on the right track with the products we stock, and what we need to improve on to adapt to a changing market. While every other wholesaler is still franticly fulfilling (or not fulfilling) orders we are looking at our future requirements and predictions.

So please do share your thoughts by PM or reply, no matter how much you want to share. It really will help!

Thanks in advance

Sean at Access Renewables

Like every other industry the excellent and adaptable companies will survive and others will fall by the way side. We are making contingency plans now rather than moaning about the changes- personally hoping that those who are not knowledgable and simply got into the business to follow money will get out as quickly as they got in and leave the industry to those who have long term ambitions.

The changes affect those who know about the industry NOW, there are millions of people out their who have still not heard of feed in tariffs- they will not be concerned about the 43.3p and will simply accept the new tariff. If people are not convinced they can happily go and earn 1.5% net on their money in bank- we're offering returns of 10% net of tax, its still an incredible investment!

Sanyo will definitely be out. Unlikely that we'll be able to push European unless they drop their prices drastically and we'll be looking for cheaper inverters and roof kits. Personally I'd like a well built Chinese panel with a good yield but it doesn't need to be the best. It should have salt mist testing, amonia testing, available in 200 and 250w sizes and black and silver and we must be able to fix it on the long and short side.

We have a panel in mind that ticks most of the boxes and if we're going to keep prices competitive and the standard of our work up, the panels aren't going to be the same quality we've installed up to now.

interesting thought SRE, did a quote yesterday and he's made his mind up he's having Sanyo's. Not sure he'll use us necesserily but I think some people by their nature will always want to have the most expensive panel on their roof.

i cant see how u can qoute at mo!! who knows what prices will be in a months time!! then again it will be heading in ur favour! well ive been in this for 6 months(a baby) but the last month has aged me BIG TIME! just spoke to pvkits (my moost reliable supplier) they will be sorting ET prices for next yr very soon! ie they need us to buy!! trouble is im so out of it with paperwork! deposits ! surveys! i prob get kicked out when i get visit! i will spend xmas in office getiing it sorted but it will be obvious (ive lapsed) lied and cheated to get my clients there FITS! prob at my exspense when i add it all up! i rec it called BAPTISUM by FIRE!! its a shame cause i aimed to do 1 or 2 instals a month to run with main business but if im going to have poss mark up of say ÂŁ1500 a job (by sticking to the book) plus new rules and regs comming in then i would choose to have my LIFE back anyday! i defo no who (if i stay)i will be using and WHO i wont!!! yes were all in the ----- at mo but a PHONE call can save ÂŁ------ and a bit of honesty!!! u can only do ur best!!! but just tell me the truth!!!!!!!dont take my money and send me HALF A KIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ref SANYO 240/230se10 fab panel looks good size fab!!! but doubt i will ever use one again!!!!!oh yeh one thing i have learnt !! EVERSOLAR good inverta!!!! nite nite

powervan I quote because people will choose who they feel most comfortable to do the work-not based on price in my opinion, I'm offering people quotes at todays rates and telling them to get back in touch in a few weeks and I will reprice if necessary.

honesty is best policy!! saves us all money in long run!! cant see how u get money back if its all to late! half a kit is worse than no kit esp if its panels isolators but no mounting rails invertas or meters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RETURNS ur b LUCKY!!!!!!!

In response to the original question, i'll be doing what i always do. Buying one brand of panel, one brand of inverter, and spec'ing the mounting kit myself depending on the roof, and the requirements.

Never buy a kit they would always be short, they will be cutting corners to get the price down.

I'll be going back to all my customers apologising for being such a grumpy git, and completing 'remedial' works.

One lady has the SWA taped to here stair-case at the moment.)

I shall also be trying to sort out the mess that is my paperwork ready for my inspection in january, oh and having the op I had to cancel in november!!!
