I went into my local electrical wholesaler and asked for some PAT 'failed' stickers, after hunting around the salesperson appeared with the said stickers and said 'we don't sell many of those mate', I then asked when was the last time he'd sold them, he replied 'about 3yrs ago'.

Never done a lot of pat testing , but the only time I failed anything was one time doing a jd sports. Spotty assistant manager followed me everywhere as if I was trying to nick something. So when we got to the staff room I was forced to fail the kettle and toaster. I removed plugs and cut flex off as tight as I could to the appliance. "Terribly sorry chap but I'm afraid these have failed" . Made me feel much better.

If my memory serves me correct, the spec for this client was that any appliances failed or deemed unsafe had to be recorded and removed from service. Ie remove plug etc. "legally" watch out for pat test police.

As above,I think you can only remove the plug, chopping the lead close to the appliance could be classed as criminal damage, you never know, some people have taken things home that have failed a PAT Test, because "it works ok and doesn't have to be tested for home"'
