.........you were offered a brew?

I know theres a recession but i cant remember the last time somebody offered me a drink.

I dont do any domestic, but i work in a lot of offices/banks/superstores and there seems to have been a severe decline in hospitality!

I was in a well known Insurance branch yesterday, installing a couple of light fittings - up ladders, above ceiling etc..
and THREE TIMES they made a brew without even asking me!
All sat there underneath me slurping and chatting away.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in tightness?
Or is it just because im 6ft 4, ugly and have a shaved head? :(

Hi Romans99
When their not looking replace the kettle fuse with a blown one then replace it with original when they start teabreak ! you get tea all day !

Kung.

I am carrying out a lot of installs for a local council doing shower installations for disabled and the difference in client is increddible.
Over the last couple of weeks I have had one where they will dring tea in front of you but the best one was a couple that would not let you get through the front door without making you tea and bikkies. and every half hour or so the offer is there, then you get "lads your luch is down here", sausage rolls etc etc.
Later in the day they said "would your young lad like a coke or lemonade" to which I replied, maybe a con of fosters (jokingly) after I saw some on the shelf, oh ok they said, NO I was only joking, No thats quite alright they said, would you like one too. NO, we really cant at work and we went on to finish the job.
As we were packing up the lady came out and said, heres a couple of fosters for the drive home, So I said to my lad, pop them on the hall table and we can make out we forgot them, loaded the van up said our good byes and off we went to turn round at the top of the road.
as we came back down the road this disabled lady hobbled down her path and thrust 2 cans of fosters through the window

Ive just always assumed that Tradesmen are entitled to a complimentary beverage?
Im sure its in the Bible or something

"Thou shalt make brew for spark"

Maybe this ancient custom is disappearing

I endure public transport reasonable frequently, and in the last few years have noticed the amount of people willing to give thier seat up to a elderly or pregnant person declining rapidly. A few monthe back I stood for an old dear and had the seat swiped by a foriegn student! (who I removed by his ear - literally)

I have never had a problem getting a brew maybe its my Charm wit good looks and personality or may be its because i turn up with a pint of milk and biccies. and put them in the kitchen!. I will remove whne i leave incase you think i am to generopus.

Nice one Kung, I'm less subtle making comments like; blimey its thirsty work in here must be the heating/aircon etc.

Or i will blatently ask, after all is it so ignorant to request a drink? Althoughin a past life when I fitted CCTV, some tea shopkeepers profered was particularly nasty (I had one that was the consistency of custard:eek: ~ when I went into the back of the shop a great big cauldren had been brewing all day!!(probably all week) So sometimes its just best to take a flask.

I cart me own kettle and mashings about, so i offer to make my own if they dont, and i always have sugar (complete with bits of coffee in it and lumps) cos i`m sick of people who dont have any.:(

Had an absolute swine of a job, crawling about on my back under a machine with a ladle of molten iron in it. The plant lads were playing a fire hose on me to cool me down. Finally done I crawled out looking like a soggy Al Jollson to be met by two managers. One with a towel the other with a pint mug of Russian tea!

If you’re really hot don’t drink tea with milk in it, it won’t refresh you.

Most of my work is in offices and there's usually a staff canteen or at least a machine where you can help yourself. There's always the odd place where you must put coins in the machine which is a pain cause I don't carry money in my pockets.

On a similar note though we used to get given loads of diaries in December. I would usually end up with half a dozen from our suppliers and several from our bigger customers. Last December I didn't get given a single diary and ended up having to buy one. Maybe the diary shortage is the commercial equivalent of not getting offered tea and coffee by domestic customers?

I had one woman who kept asking me if she was ok to use the kettle every half hour, then making herself one and clearing off.

After the third time I said Id have to have the power off, and it didnt go back on till I was done. I thought "if im not drinkin tea luv then youre not either"
