I am going to renew the output shaft bearings on my Disco, I need a slide hammer which is not difficult but I need to make a "end" for it any one know where I can get steel tube threaded on the inside, not BSP or any weird stuff 22mm I think but I can confirm that later, I have made up ends before by welding a load of nuts together but to be honest they are not that reliable.

when I had a disco I found the LRO magazine was a very good source of help and info and I think they had an online forum too.

Prices for this sort of thing can go crazy e.g. Marine grade for over £200

Could you use a turnbuckle? (would be lh and rh thread) m22 under £20 on eBay.

m22 tap would set you back about £50 and you could make your own?

What length and material do you need? I could ask my toolmaker.

Any fabrication place worth their salt should be able to knock something up for a few quid.

You should look for 'connecting nuts', sometimes referred to as coupling nuts, which are just a long nut. If you can find them locally I'm guessing an M22 nut would be about 2-3 inches long standard. You might find a class 10 heat treated if you're lucky, unfortunately UK google searches from here throw up inconsistent results so maybe someone local can help you with a supplier..

LP, I have yet to size it up, this w/end if this weather holds up,
Strima, location is a factor here

My bad mate, should have checked your location.

I take it you have lots of local people around there?
