A customer is getting a new supply and we need 5m of 32mm polyduct. Trouble is I can't find anyone local willing to sell me short lengths. Jewsons are the recommended supplier by SSEPD etc but sell 25m rolls only.

Does anyone know of a supplier in the north east hampshire, surrey, berkshire borders area?

The customer wants to use a bit of drain pipe but I have a feeling SSE will object to that.... ;)

thanks guys but I had found the stuff on ebay. I was rather hoping to find somewhere local that I can pick up from as I never know when I will be in to receive parcels.... :(

If he is getting a new supply get the DNO to supply it. You only want a small length so even if they charge a bit more it will still not cost a lot.
You will probably be able to collect it from their depot, or if you ask nicely they may drop a length off when they are passing.

It makes me laugh people trying to save a pound and spending hours trying to source alternatives.

I asked the DNO local guy (SSEPD) and he said I we to get it from Jewsons. I might try the office to see if I get a better response.

It isn't so much the cost (although the customer might disagree....). I just find it hard to believe everyone buys 25/50/100m regardless of whether they only need a few feet. Or am I wrong?

When the DNO ( my area at least) provides a quote for a new supply they will usually quote for the duct as well. It is usually the customer who asks to provide their own and then leaves some poor sparky to try and find some cheap.
Get the customer to supply it for you, or charge them for the time you are taking to find some, they may think twice next time.
Please don't be tempted to use anything other than approved duct as the DNO may refuse to pull their cable through it.

The story from the customer is a little confused (no surprise there then...) but I think you are right, I'm going to throw it back at the customer to sort out but don't worry, he will have strict instructions to only get the right stuff.

Don't mind me while I bump some old threads. Just doing the rounds. Ignore the thread if it's not current topic, it'll soon drop off the list, but if the thread interests you, feel free to reply. :)
