Hi All

Some advice please. I have had my 17th edition quals and part p full scope. I carry out work associated with my building work and board upgrades etc. I am registered with the niceic so carry out testing and inspection of my own work.

My question to all you wonderfull sparks is where do i go from here regarding furthering my knowledge and qualifications.

i would like to be able to carry out electrical work other than just domestic. Also i would like to get a lot more knowlege and experience of testing and inspection.

I have considered the 2391 but have been told i will struggle based on my qualifications.

the reasons behind my question are that if i am going to carry out work i want to know as much as possible to offer the best and safest work i can.

Hope you can help

The 2391 along with any other qual has got sod all to do with what quals you hold.

Its all down to what you know and are able to show

IMHO 2391 is a good course to do. If you have the 17th (2382 perhaps??) and were inspected onto a P2 scheme, 2391-10, and even the -20 if you want detailed knowledge of design, would be a good option. The 2392 is easier though.

All are being replace this year, when the EIT get it sorted out, but the new version of the 2391-20 is a level 4, not 3 so may be more difficult.

More knowledge.... Wants to move into other sectors... Surprised nobody has said tech certs then nvq3. Do it that way (very expensive) but definately the best way to grab more knowledge of the industry overall. 2391 should be done last in my opinion. If you can get the tech certs and testing experience you can't go wrong for the 2391
