Where to start

Hi,

I am a 25 year old HGV mechanic looking into becoming an electrician but have no idea where to start.

I have very little electrical experience and was wondering what you would recommend as a starting point?

A good start would be to get the spanners back out.

At present like everything else not much work about. Your first decision is what path you want to take is it commercial, domestic or both. Have a look at Plumbing course | Construction Training | Electrician Courses | DIY Skills that website will give you an idea of costs and timescales.

great website to look at if you like wasting money...skills companies are a bunch of vultures, if you want to do a course goto your local college for advise, itll take longer but will save you a small fortune.

Great advice from above, 'IF' you're already in paid work & you can stick with it & do a course at night school, probably 2x 4 hour sessions a week it WILL save you a small fortune, but take 2 years.

I once went on a seminar to become a driving instructor, it was clear at the end all they wanted was your £5K for the course, which strangely enough was the same amount that you could borrow on a career development loan at the time. I get the impression that the electrical training schemes are similar.
