I am thinking of investing in Di-LOG DL1093 Cable Locator (spec. sheet attached), which also locates timber and pipes. Similar products are a lot more expensive. So, before I do has anyone got any advice?

I have a similarly priced Bosch one, and dependant on whether there's an R in the month, the colour of the wall or if there's metal bath in the house, I get varying responses!

Most times the things goes off for no apparent reason. I suspect some of the more expensive ones might produce more accurate results, and if you know roughly where the cable is, and just want to narrow down it's location, its a useful addition to your toolbox.

never fails.

Was installing a circuit in a cafe when the proprietor decided to drill a hole through the wall for me to pass a cable through.
First attempt hit a cable 'bang'.
Second attempt hit another cable 'bang'.
Third time lucky.
Fortunately, I managed to crimp the damaged wires together and cover with heat shrink
Left the filling and painting to the proprietor.
