im about to undertake some upgrade work for a local council. It is upgradeing there 2 way Cu to a 4 way to add a supply for a door access system.
This means at present its on the landlords supply and is feeding the communal lighting and a spur for the distributed tv system.
Now adding to these will be my door access. making 3 circuits for me to be accountable for.:p

my question do i do the elect installation cert or the domestic electrical cert , im angling more towards the EiC as i have communial lighting, but as its landlords supply maybe domestic EIC.:confused:something in my memory about 12 circuits or less is coming back to me?
Any clarification on this will be greatly appreciated

First of all you carry-out a PIR to assess the state of the installation, report back to the customer any defects.
Then you do an EIC because you are not working on a domestic site, the site is communal area which happens to how domestic areas off it. the communal areas could just as easily be a corridor outside different offices or industrial units.

Does that make sense?

yes it does make sense thankyou.

i have a copy of a periodic as it happens its only 11 months old. just had a look and and compared it the other day. i did chuckle at it lots :D they must have done it with the door shut.

nvm i will do another and throw it at them to decide.

thanks for the input

In that case (a PIR with back door closed) I would take a sample test as a comparison,
If the sample tests do not hold up to further investigation then state that the PIR is not reliable and either you carry-out a new PIR or our customer gets the other electrician back to carry out the CU upgrade.

Sometimes it's better to walk away (otherwise the buck may stop with you)
