Hi all,

So, I or should I say we were having a debate and I am hoping someone with more experience can clarify.

If installing a garage consumer unit using an existing swa 2 core swa cable with the steel reinforcement being used as the earth and already wired to a 30 am mcb at the db would you do an eic or minor works? This garage db is then going to have a radial socket circuit and a radial lighting circuit from it, both newly installed but is all of this classed as an addition to an existing circuit as the burried swa cable is pre existing and wired into the main db?

Many thanks in advance.

A strange question for so late I know but these debates just seem to pop up lol

I would go with an EIC as you are installing a consumer unit and new circuits from that consumer unit.
Otherwise in, say, an industrial situation everything you do would be from a main board or sub board so you would always just be adding to a "circuit".
