All these stores are interested in is selling boxes and making profit.

I would have thought it was in the stores' best interest to sell safety equipment alongside tools. I expect the staff get sick of being accused of 'cross-selling' and having customers switch off when they start with the 'add-ons' - as far as the customers are concerned they may as well be selling an extended warranty or payment protection on a finance package with an extortionate rate of interest.
