Evening chaps, have just been given the go ahead on a lovely sized new build and have got a million joists to drill.
am going to invest in an angled drill to give me nice straight cable runs. So my question to you guys is which one shall I buy?
I am stuck between the dewalt 21160 and the Makita da3010.
am thinking the Makita as a bit more powerful but reviews on the chuck seem bit dodgy. Any input would be much appreciated

Makita all the way used it on a large house build last year great machine used in conjunction with Irwin bits , a Dewalt is a Dewalt enough said.....:shame:

Is it worth thinking about a cordless? The 18V Makita looks good if you already have the batteries for other tools in their range. BDA350 (keyed chuck) or BDA351 (keyless chuck).

Makita's chuck is really crap tbh u usually have to re tighten it every two or three holes, and also try not to use bigger than 25mm holes as it will get very hot before you know it as its not designed or powerful enough for that.....I would recommend dewalt extreme flat bits, they're great and easily go through oak, so no probs on new builds unless u hit a nail of course, they're well worth the money to save the effort :)

If you have an ordinary hammer drill for one of the major manufacturers, most do right angle converters, which works out cheaper. I have Bosch and it works a treat, so much so, that I picked up another virtual new drill at a car-boot sale for a song and converted that permanently, so I have the best of both worlds.

Well guys thanks for all you input. Made a purchase yesterday and on advice of the guy in the shop I took the makita DA4000. What a piece of kit it is, got it out of the box on the job and it ate joists for breakfast. :82:
Chuffed with my purchase to say the least!!
