A lot depends on your incoming supply characteristics. Is It TT, TNS, TNCS, this will determine which type of main switch you could use. It will also determine how best to configure your board to cause minimum inconvenience in the event of a fault, There is also the cost factor, do you want to fit RCBO's to each circuit or are you happy with dual RCD's which in the event of a trip will take off more than one circuit.

It is a bit of an open ended question mate. Put some more meat on the bones by answering a few of the questions i have asked and then you might get a better solution.

Cheers.

At the moment a rewireable fuse board is in on a 60amp supply only 3 circuits to install shower, light, sockets the supply system not sure at the min not at home think its a tn-s system not sure earth of the swa cable

60amp supply,is it a flat, only 3 circuits, but question is how old is the existing wiring,is it any good, periodic first,to see whether its reasonable to replace upgrade, bonding, main earth adequate?

Its a 2 bedroom house bonding i have recently just installed for new boiler wiring not sure all twin earth red black periodic tested in 1994

Its overdue its 10 year PIR. As someone else stated do a full and thorough PIR, and from the findings and any remedial work you carry out, you will be able to decide which is the best option to replace the existing CU.

do you have the records of its last test in 1994, as this will give some indication of the state of the install then and it will give you something to compare your test results with now.

If you upgrade, then it must be to 17th edition, if it isnt then you are in breach of building regulations which is a criminal offence, just about all cables in the 17th edition require RCD protection so fitting a dual split load board is a must. this work is also notifiable, and so is the shower circuit if it is new or altered.

yh i know this is notifiable work im not notifying though this is my own house shower was existing supply which i tested i know is fine u spend more time telling labc wht your doing than doing the job itsekf part p is just a big stealth tax on sparkies, just gonna install a double pole 5 way board

I may be having a brain fart, I didnt think you had to have a dual RCD board unless you have a TT system.

Obviously the design of the circuits depict if the circuit has to be on an RCD or not ie my bathroom shower/lights.but does it really matter comeon im on rewireables at the min.
