Hi All , Can anybody recommend which meter they use for testing of Earth Spikes , i have been asked to install quite a few for Communal TV Systems where they require earth bonding to the electronic equipment but with no Landlord supply so the TV Systems are run using 12v supplies installed in each flat and a spike installed to provide the Earth.

Just after advice on which meters to avoid and which are the best value as the Megger & Flukes are very pricey.

Thanks in advance.

Lee

Thanks Trev , I normally stick with Megger but the cheapest meter is ÂŁ450 plus VAT for something that i'm going to use for 4-5 weeks then sit in the van for the next 612 months.

You can normally get some bargains on fleabay but you have to check to see they're not stolen. One guy on here got a calibrated Metrel MFT a few weeks back for ÂŁ100

Hi Lenny , Thanks for the info , is the Kewtech kit of a decent quality compared to price?.

Lee

The Kewtech KEW4105A earth resistance tester is OK, but the low 0-20 ohm range spec accuracy isn't as good as it could be or i would like. But I doubt very much if your going to get Ra values where this would be of too much concern to you.

Thanks for the replies , i've bought a Kewtech4105A from Test Meter today , gone for cost over quality but like i said before i'll be using it quite a bit for the next 4-5 weeks then will be stuck in the van for the foreseeable.

Thanks

Lee
