Alright all,
Ok which M/F teaster then Megger or Fluke

if you are wanting a MF for domestic works only, stick to a fluke 1651 B, it has everything you need and will only set you back around ÂŁ375+VAT

if you are feeling a bit lazy get the 1652 as it has an automatic RCD test function but thats pretty much the only difference.

i use my 1653 on commercial and industrial sites only, but i supply my lads with 1651's, they are a great bit of kit and dont cost the earth.

i had the fluke until it got nicked, just started using the megger now as more sparks seemed to prefer it so thought i'd try it this time. ithink the storage casing and the layout is better and easier to get to grips with initially with the fluke but the megger it no probs in no time and id much rather have a more reliable bit of kit

Where can you get the fluke that cheap??? Cheapest i've seen is ÂŁ419 + vat

Company I used to sub to had flukes. I couldn't stand them, earth loops, especially in industrial situations, were a nightmare as the slightest bit of "noise" and they'd come up with some error message or other. I use a megger cm500. Ok they're bloody expensive and quite bulky but it has never let me down in around 7 years.

Megger 1552 for me...

Was using a Megger separates kit at work & then once I started my Level 3 were using Flukes. First week in & I went & bought a Megger MFT. Sooooooooooooo easy!! It's always a horses for courses, but I'd highly recommend a Megger if you are not used to any test kit yet.

I bought my Fluke 1651 second hand (but new and unused with all seals/stickers) for a fraction under ÂŁ200 on Ebay, it had to go for its calibration (ÂŁ70) but has been an excellent tool for me, I do abuse it!!!

Looking at the 1651 on the link above that looks like a bargin!
