I am trying to work out which wire is the hot one on a lighting circuit, there are 6 different switched lights on the main breaker and I need to know which is the hot wire on one on the 6 lights as both the wires are colour coded black.
I have tried the methods searched online but none give me a definitive answer.
I have put an electric tester on both wires and both are showing a light on the tester.
I have tried a multimeter black probe to ground and red probe to each wire but get a voltage on both.
I also tried reading the voltage with the multimeter hoping to show either a + or - on the display but both show as a +

There is no bulb in the socket when I am doing these tests.

This doesn't make sense to me and I need any advice that could give me a definitive way to work out which wire is which.
Could it be possible the other lights on the breaker are interfering with the readings? if so what it the method to stop this.

Any advice really appreciated, and if you need any further information please don't hesitate to ask me
