Hi all
I've done my PV course but it didn't include the working at heights course, just rang my local collage and they do one but you only get a certificate of attendance not a pasma or iPas cert , is the ÂŁ75 attendance one good enough, or how do I find out which course you have to take

Thanks
Grand

In short most 1 day working at height courses should cover what you need to know.

Most PV installations require a fixed scaffold rather than mobile towers due to the large area taken up by a typical PV array, and you can build in edge protection when working near to gables. Smaller jobs can be completed using mobile towers, where PASMA is more relevant, however you would still need to ensure you are comfortable that your working environment is safe.

An alternative could be completing CSCS H&S test - see CSCS - Construction Skills Certification Scheme - which is a construction industry backed scheme to improve H&S on building sites. This will give you sufficient knowledge in all relevant risk areas giving you access to site work, however as an electrician you may need to apply for ECA affiliated CSCS card see: Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (CSCS Affiliated) (worth giving them a call to discuss)

Try ecoskies.co.uk

They do a pv specific working at heights course which I attended and found to be very informative and useful.

PASMA = How to Build up and safely use Scaffold Towers
IPAF = How to use Powered Access equipment - and this is done with different types of machines on a modular basis. It is a piece of **** tho ;)
