Evening chaps....

Only just realised that if I pay my wholesaler bill before end of the month then I get it 2.5% cheaper.

Just trying to work out my calculations but brain not switched on - help please :

Total Amount due = ÂŁ2065 inc vat

I need to take off vat at 20%, then take off 2.5% discount, then add VAT back on at 20%....... should be around ÂŁ50'ish cheaper

Thank you,

Sy:aureola:

ÂŁ1720.83 without the vat

ÂŁ43.02 is 2.5% of the above amount

Pretty sure this is how its done, its how i work out my discounts and always seems to work

Multiply by 0.975 to get your discounted gross. The discount is taken off your nett but you pay proportionately less VAT, so only one calc needed to pay the bill. Receipt should mirror this. Hope this helps.

I get the same. Wanted to buy some tools in cash, but they put it on my account, then showed it as paid when I gave them the cash, and because I paid my bill early they discounted 2.5%!!!
