For those who have seen it all before, suggestions please.

Period house, local builder asks can you come and look at small job; a few ceiling lights and move a few sockets in the kitchen.
Got there today. ceiling removed walls down, there must be at least 12 jb's hanging in the ceiling a mix of
lighting and sockets with 2 for the 6mm cooker circuit (one of two)
TT system with no visible means of earthing, measures well, but from where ???
Nasty old eath leakage trip, large very old f/b with resettable fuses.

Best option as customer refuses to pay for re wire or board change ?

I was thinking of splitting tails into new hendley block and running 16mm into new f/b in basement
and taking all my work from that with rcbo's. Cut out and remove all obsolete cables from old fb.

Testing installation and then fiting an rcd in place of earth leakage trip ? 30ma with no discrimination, but safe

Drive is concrete with nearest soft ground 25m away. Should I dig out a hole and drop in spike with
inspection plate ? only 3m from f/b

The plumber has also dropped two pipes finished with prestex blanks next to and in contact with main fuse  old bakerlight type so nice and brittle with very good water ingress protection.

Should I insist these are removed.

Should I jump infront of a train and avoid all the angst.

All help appreciated

Pat

Re: Why are all my jobs an arse ?

Ive been in this position many times, I would insist the water pipes are moved and explain to the customer why. I would also insist on at least upgrading the consumer unit if things are that bad. If the customer refuses to pay for this then I would avoid the job.
