Hi guy's:

I'm 19 years old, went to college and did 2330 level 2 and level 3, then my teacher told me to do 17th edition. I passed all these exams thinking i would get a job easily. The thing is i can't find anyone to take me on. I've applied for loads but they all come back with i need experience.

How am i suppose to get a job with no experience when i haven't had the chance? I feel like experience > qualifications

Does anyone know of any agencies i could go through to see if someone would take me on ? Thanks... PS i live around the Bedfordshire area..

hi mate,if you were in the brighton area i could of sorted you out for a bit.Im sure something will come up.
Not sure about the agency route though.
Can you travel to london,im sure there be work there especially around the stratford area as there building something big for 2012 !!

Good luck.

Unfortunately for you, you happen to be up against a lot of older, experienced, and tooled up guys that have been laid off and will work for next to nothing to get the bills paid.

Stick at it and be patient, something will turn up eventually.

yep you just need 1 thing to get on the olympics site and thats a polish passport

the reason your finding it hard to get work mate is becuase theres more electricians out there than there is work im afraid thats why theres people out there offering to work for free just for the experience to get their foot in th door which i think is wrong!!!

hi mate i sympathise with your plight but the simple fact is there is a shortage of work and an abundance of lads wanting to do it...there are tons of people on the forum begging for work with no joy... keep going with the searching and try to be as accommodating with an employer as possible.
also keep an eye on the forum there are good lads on here and when they have the need the do ask for mates i myself have had 2 jobs off the forum last year only temp like but it all helps...
chin up mate and keep going

Ok cheers guy's, it just feels like i wasted 2 years at college.

I can't get to London either at the moment because i haven't got my driving licence atm which is a disadvantage right away, but im hoping im passed by March, and hopefully someone will give me a chance.

Your right there jonesy, once sat a 2 hour site induction (boring) went on site and within a few hours a bloke was standing on my cables,i asked him to move and his mate translated to him what i said.did he understand that site induction! er ya simples!!!

Hi Matey!

It's tough out there!

Despite having qualifications you will need to bite the bullet on try and get some experience. If you choose the Domestic route state that you are prepared to work as an improver on a lower rate until you get your 2391 and NVQ3. Or if you choose the commercial root apply for your JIB card and register with a few agencies. You could offer to do one day for free with a local sparky just to get on-site experience!
