Just been to a job to do some minor works and found the usual " boards just been changed" blah with no main earth, meter tails in separate holes in metal board plus a few other horrors.

I don't think nationality has anything to do with it, more to do with the quality and level of training imo.

I added the 16mm as a temp. Measure to bring the Zs down from 30 ohms at sockets to 0.47.

From a purely aesthetic point of view that board looks awful. Never used CED stuff before But if its all as cheap and nasty as that looks I wont be rushing to it.

Any particular reason not to put most of the circuits on a RCD?

And why do we bother - thats simple - because we are professionals and we will always do it right.

What have you advised the customer to do ?

As it's a contract job out of our area I've told them to get a proper electrician in after the weekend to test and put right, definitely not the builder from next door who's mate did this.
And no I definitely didn't connect anything of my new work to their system.

What a joke of a job that is.

1. Fed in T&E with cpc cut off. (you added the 16mm).
2. Cpc's just twisted together and in one terminal
3. RCD has only N connected but not L. Irrelevant as not covering any circuits anyway!

I'd advise them to be contacting the installer for a full refund and reporting him to trading standards.
But then I've got no patience for this type of garbage.
