Why do we Bother

Just been to a job to do some minor works and found the usual " boards just been changed" blah with no main earth, meter tails in separate holes in metal board plus a few other horrors.

Do we think the reason that the circuits are not on the RCD is because it kept tripping and the 'sparky' that installed this couldn't/wouldn't find the fault?

From a purely aesthetic point of view that board looks awful. Never used CED stuff before But if its all as cheap and nasty as that looks I wont be rushing to it.

have you got a local specsavers. that's a BG board. good gear badly installed.

In response to the title "why do we bother?" It's exactly because there are idiots like this running about that we bother. If there are no people to alert customers to this kind of garbage then it's only going to get worse.

We are our own industry police in the absence of anything else with any teeth or that gives a damn.

Haha we have got a specsavers but can never find it... I was using my phone and couldn't zoom in, the Blue logo on the breakers looked a bit like CED....Honest

Any particular reason not to put most of the circuits on a RCD?

And why do we bother - thats simple - because we are professionals and we will always do it right.

2. Cpc's just twisted together and in one terminal

I suspect all the CPCs are too short to reach the terminals, ... well all except one .. which just reached the end one, though probably under strain. This was his solution!

I am pretty sure this will continue until we a have strong governing body with a willingness to actually improve the industry and not see it as just a cash cow to line the directors pockets.
I like the Australian way where nothing other than basic stuff is sold unless your FULLY qualified. We could use the jib gold card as the requirement to buy gear with fines for wholesalers not adhering to the requirements.
