why is new meter tripping rcd

Because you haven't set it to No Trip, or you're repeatedly testing the RCD?

Is this meter a Test Instrument? If so then read the user instructions. My Fluke voltage indicator tripped RCD's for fun till i read the instructions, and now it never trips them.

If it's the supply meter, it's most likely a loose termination, probably the neutral.

I'm not the only one who was surprised that it tripped everything. It took me around 3 weeks before I realised it shouldnt work like that!

If its your supply meter you really need to contact you supplier as if its a loose connection its only a matter of time before it heats up it needs sorting ASAP.

Get them back before you start cutting seals etc(as it would of been resealed on replacment) or they will point the finger at you for tampering
