In my bathroom there is a celling light, a light over the mirror and an outlet. I went to replace the light over the mirror. When I successfully did that the celling light and outlet stopped working.

There was two black and two white wires attached in the box that I wrongly disconnected when putting in the mirror light. I reattached them exactly like they had been and attached the mirror light wires properly but the ceiling and outlet still do not work. Its a really old house and I'm at a loss for what to do.

Here is a picture of it. the left two (yellow and upper left orange) are the ones that connect the ceiling light and the outlet, I think. The only thing I did was undo them and redid it just as it was before finding the right black and white to connect my light to.

Hi M- sorry to hear of your light problems !
If you can post up a pic of the wiring at the new fitting we may be able to help. Remember that although the light may be off (or not working) some of the wires may still be live. So don’t do it unless you are confident you have turned off the power.
