is the watch still OK?

Yes watches, jewelry, even long hair can be very dangerous around moving machinery and such.
Gas lighters in pckets when welding have been known to go up in flames before now.

haha unfortuatly not 200 odd pound watch has stopped least it will remind me of the time i did it .

yes i think is a school boy error ill not be the first nor the last no doubt

and wearing a tie while working with a lathe is not good either.

when i was at school, we were really lucky and had a brilliant design and technology workshop. i remeber that loads of people used to forget to take the chuck key from the lathes, and they would smash against the guard!

Wearing a tie when using a shredder also has its hazzards -saw this once, many years ago and bizzarely the chap wore his damaged tie for the remainder of the day!

i've done this too a few years back on a generator! welded most of the links together but there wasn't much penetration so they just snapped when i went to take it off. still got the watch, it still works fine but i don't wear it anymore. never got any burns tho..?

Driving along the motorway in the bosses Merc, cruise control on sat there fat dumb and happy. The electric window switch was on the centre console so, steering with my right hand I decided to close the window then stick my finger on my left hand into the gap of the window as it was closing to test the automatic safety gaget......It didn't stop and jammed my left hand in the window.....Extreme pain but I couldn't reach back across to the centre console with my right hand to press the switch again to open it !!!!!!!!!

Trying to pull over to the hard shoulder and stop using only you knees is a tough task I can tell you!!

]if you could have stuck it out for 10 minutes, being a merc, the motor would have burnt out and the string snapped, causing the window to drop fully into the door, thus releasing your hand.

One of the guys I worked with had his finger burnt off by his wedding ring by getting the ring across 24V terminals on a vehicle. Another had his wedding ring snag as he jumped out of a wagon, it ripped his finger off.

I will not wear jewellery of any kind while working.

Very similar to tony's I knew a guy who had his fingers burnt to the bone on a 150A dc arc light bad isulation on the supply cables with a ring on very messy, another guy sliped & got hook up by his ring (on his finger) pulled his finger out of its socket, could of been extremely messy if it was't on his finger, seen a battery explode by accidently shorting out the terminals, allways been told from an apprentice never wear jewelley at work,rings/watches/St christophers/chains ect

I don't have a wedding ring my wife wanted me to have one but I said I didn't want to be in a position where I lost a finger because I forgot to take it off.

Heard too many stories of accidents one guy on a site I frequently worked on lost a finger after he tripped climbing the stairs to a gantry next to a large diesel fire pump he put his hand out as you do and caught his ring in a guard he was lucky that his two way radio was jammed on transmit and he had not long drawn the keys for the building from security so his scream was heard and he was found before he bled to death

Don't know whether they are still available but the health and safety videos I saw at college where enough to put me off jewelery with electricity mixed in. Would be a good training video on what to avoid

i defforantly learnt my lesson no rings watchs or chains any more its one of them things u say will never happen till it does hinsight is a beautiful thing tbh
