I have been trying to complete my NVQ level 3 since losing my job at 19. I have tried everything to get someone to take me on but to no avail. I have done various mates jobs but that never came to anything as i was classed as self employed it seemed to create a barrier. Nothing I did helped me get the chance to qualify in the Nottingham area. I now don't have the time left to just do my last year and am moving up to Fife to live with mu fiancee and start a new life and now I need to try the task over again and tryand find someone who is willing to put me through my apprenticeship from scratch. I have my C&G level 3 and got distinctions in that, but when I apply for new apprenticeships I don't even get a look in as I don't have the 5 GCSE's at grade C or above, even though I got distinctions in my Level 3, they don't care. I have constantly worked in construction, renovations etc but it is so difficult. i cant even register with JIB as an electrical improver as I don't have an employer who can sign my application! Does anyone on here have any idea just what I am doing wrong or the best way I can achieve my dream job - a fully qualified electrician!!!! I would work for free if I could just get my jobseekers and someone 'employ' me in order to qualify or work for the minimum wage or anything, I did advise I would work for minimum wage and pay my own college fees in all the hundreds of letters I have sent. nearly 6 years and I still haven't quite given up.

I dont wish to appear a pesimist but do remember that when you move to fife you land up under sjib and they run the show in a different fashion to doon sooth.I would advise you to contact them for advice in your situation .

Good luck in your move and your fresh start.
